Sindh Excise and Taxation (E&T) department has witnessed 21.6 percent growth in its revenue collection in 1HFY19. This claim was made by Director General Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh during a meeting presided by provincial Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla held at his office here.

The E&T department has recovered Rs 36.48 billion from July 2018 to December 2018 as compared to Rs 30 billion made during preceding period, depicting 21.6 percent growth in 1HFY19. Shaikh further informed that the department had collected Rs 3.54 billion under Motor Vehicle Tax, Rs 28.58 billion as Infrastructure Cess and Rs 247.38 million as professional tax. Furthermore, he said that Rs 146.50 million was recovered under cotton fee, Rs 1375.13 million as property tax and Rs 32.039 million in term of Entertainment Duty while remaining amount was collected under various taxes.
